By using this website, you agree to the policies described below...
All of our axolotls are identified with a unique name for id purposes only. Please do not read into the name to determine sex. If the sex is known, we will indicate it. If the sex is listed as either "potential", "probable", or "presumed" we do not guarantee the sex.

Lizzy's Lotyls, LLC guarantees a healthy animal upon pick up or delivery. The animal will not have any missing limbs, nips, or other known injuries or disease. Lizzy’s Lotyls will not refund or replace the animal after acquisition. All sales are strictly final. This is because we cannot control the environment and water parameters once the animal leaves our care.

If after purchase, the buyer decides they no longer want the animal, and it has yet to be acquired from Lizzy's Lotyls, a full refund is not guaranteed. The buyer is subject to a restocking fee which may entail the full purchase price of the axolotl.

If at ANY point in time after receipt of the animal(s) via purchase or gift, i.e. the buyer can no longer care for the axolotl, he or she MUST contact Lizzy's Lotyls. We will arrange to take the animal back and/or provide it a new home. Please know that the purchase price will not be refunded in these instances.

Lizzy's Lotyls reserves the right to not sell to a buyer based on our sole discretion.

Although we try our best to accurately represent each specimen with photos, different computer and/or smart phone screens may vary in color and axolotls may change in color with age. Classification of morph(s) is done to the best of our knowledge and is not guaranteed. Size at time of listing is an approximation and axolotls may grow before the point of sale. We will try our best to keep our website descriptions up to date. No axolotl will be sold until at least three inches in length for the health and safety of the animal outside of our care.

The staff at Lizzy's feels that local pick up is best. We will ship an animal or animals provided the buyer is willing to cover the cost of 1-2 day shipping and handling via USPS priority express mail only. Should the specimen arrive DOA (dead on arrival), the seller will replace the specimen and the buyer will cover the cost of shipping and handling for the replacement specimen. Alternatively, the buyer may receive a full refund sans the cost of shipping and handling. The buyer must notify the seller within one hour of delivery along with photo and video of the DOA specimen in its sealed bag in order to obtain a replacement or refund. Should the axolotl arrive late, but in good health, no shipping refund will be provided.

Payment/Pick up/Holds: Please message us using the contact form to arrange a purchase and pick up time. Pick up times must not exceed two weeks of purchase date without resulting in an associated care fee per axolotl. Pick up times are typically available Monday through Friday at 4:30 PM or later by appointment only. We are not able to confirm pick up appointments until the specimen is paid for in full. Weekend appointments are generally available 8 AM to 7 PM provided the specimen(s) are picked out and paid for in advance.
We accept PayPal or Venmo only in advance of pick up. We do not accept cash, check, or other forms of payment. Should you wish to choose your own axolotl from our available specimens in person, appointments must be made in advance for Saturdays or Sundays at noon or later unless otherwise agreed upon. A $50.00 fee will be incurred at the time of booking the appointment. This charge will go toward the total cost of the specimen. Should you NOT purchase and take home a specimen on the agreed upon appointment day, the $50.00 fee will not be refunded and it cannot be used towards a future specimen or appointment.

Lizzy's Lotyls will under no circumstances sell an axolotl to a buyer residing in a state where importing axlolotls is illegal. These states currently include California, Maine, Washington, D.C., New Jersey, Alabama, and Arkansas. We only ship to continental US states, meaning Hawaii and Alaska are excluded. This is for the safety of our animals. Thank you for your understanding.

Zoonotic Diseases Disclosure: All of our axolotls (and their eggs) are only handled with disposable, powder free, nitrile gloves.
SOME NOT SO FUN BUT IMPORTANT FACTS:
Did you know that you can spread Salmonella, Aeromonas, and other bacteria from your hands to axolotls, which can cause infections in both you and the animal? It's crucial to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling axolotls or their habitat to prevent the transfer of bacteria like E. coli, Klebsiella, and Campylobacter.
Bacteria that can be spread:
Salmonella: This is a common zoonotic bacteria from amphibians and reptiles that can cause gastrointestinal illness in humans. It can contaminate the animal's body and tank water.
Aeromonas: Found in water environments, this bacteria can infect people through open wounds or by handling contaminated water or surfaces from aquatic habitats. It can cause skin and soft tissue infections, diarrhea, vomiting, and fever in humans.
E. coli, Klebsiella, and Campylobacter: These bacteria can be transmitted through contact with abraded skin or ingestion. They can cause wound infections or gastrointestinal issues like vomiting and diarrhea in humans.
Mycobacterium: Some species can cause skin and joint infections in humans, especially if you have cuts or scrapes on your hands while cleaning the tank.
Chlamydia psittaci: This is a type of bacteria that axolotls can be susceptible to, and transmission to humans is possible.
How to prevent disease transmission:
Wash your hands: Always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water immediately before and after touching your axolotl or cleaning its tank.
Wear gloves: Use gloves when cleaning the habitat to protect your skin, especially if you have cuts or abrasions.
Avoid contact with mouth: Do not touch your face or mouth after handling the animal or its environment, and wash your hands first.
Disinfect surfaces: Clean and disinfect any surfaces that have come into contact with the animal or its water.
Supervise children: Adults should supervise children when they handle axolotls or anything in their habitat, and children under 5 should not handle them at all.

Lineage Information: Lineage information is provided upon request. It is no longer made public for a number of important reasons. All lineage information on any of our specimens must come directly from us as the breeder/seller. Sadly, based on our experience, we must implement this policy due to the increasingly unwanted prevalence of both intentional and unintentional here-say, misinformation, subjective versus objective genetic, morphological, and physiological analysis, inaccurate or "missing" record-keeping, and/or public and private slander of lineages. The staff at Lizzy's Lotyls strives for ALL of our animals to be well bred with at least three generations of known lineage without any known genetic abnormalities for ALL buyers despite if the animal is for pet purposes or breeding purposes. We do not sell or gift eggs publicly or privately. We do not "wholesale" axolotls publicly or privately. This reasoning is in order to preserve the genetic integrity of species. If you are seeking to acquire one or more of our specimens for breeding, this MUST be disclosed at or prior to the point of sale. And, lineage information may be provided for a fee based on our sole discretion. We reserve the right to not have our specimens bred, resold, or re-homed without our knowledge and approval.
